Dad had brought home a horse that was fresh from the coal mines.The horse was joe and because he had worked under ground ,he was not familiar with noises above the ground. The horse worked in the darkness of the pit so he was blinded by daylight for a while.

the noise of a bird ,rustle of the trees all sent the horse into a frenzy, no one could ride him .life above the ground was to much for this horse he would rear up and was impossible to handle. Even the most experienced of horsemen couldnt get close to this horse.

You paul had the confidence to slowly gain this horse's trust.you got on this horse who was to powerful for any man to handle. You were only a young teenager yet you got on this horse and his legs were so powerful he was digging up the road as he galloped along with you on his back. The horse was unstoppable but you rode him and stayed on until he galloped himself exhausted. Joe came back home that night with you. He was to tired to be spooked out at noises he didnt recognise.

You had loyally stuck by this horse and as you put faith in him he had faith in you too. He trusted you ,in a matter of a day this horse trusted you .you werea gentle giant and you so brave. You had so much courage and you tamed this horse joe and showed him there was nothing to fear.

I was in awe of you paul and im so proud of you,yes we argued ,but i always loved you my big brother paul x
